Binghamton University and UMass Medical say it’s important to help students who suffer from poor mental health and warn that if not, students are more likely to drop out entirely, citing that many students end up dropping out from schools due to poor mental health. The initiative aims to help those students with mental health conditions and learning disabilities by providing them resources ranging from organizational skills to career support. They also say there still is a stigma towards asking for help and hope that this initative will help change that. (WBNG) — Binghamton University, in partnership with the University of Massachusetts Medical School, is bringing the HYPE, which stands for Helping Youth on Path to Employment, program to campus. Binghamton and UMass Medical say the program will be like a mentorship system –master of social work students will be trained to help and guide the students.
