Transformers KreO construction kits arrive in stores

first_imgIn February of 2011, Hasbro announced a new addition to its line of toys. Called Kre-O, the building sets followed in the proud tradition of Lego and MegaBlocks, offering click-together assembly of all kinds of cool things. And since it’s Hasbro taking a stab at brick building toys this time, it was no surprise to learn that the company would be tapping an existing licensing deal for its initial round of Kre-O sets: Transformers. If the thought of combining Lego-like building and Transformers has you all giddy, you’re not alone. I remember back in the early 80s thinking how amazing it would be if someone would hybridize two of my favorite youthful addictions — and I think it’s even more amazing now that someone has actually done it.The sets feature all your Transformer pals, from Optimus Prime and Megatron to Bumblebee and Starscream. And, as you can see from the photo, you’re not just snapping together a robot-only version: your finished creations are fully transformable, in a very manual sort of way. You’ll have to tear them down and rebuild in vehicle mode from scratch. Or you could always buy two sets so that you have one of each to display 24-7, but I’m sure that prospect never entered the minds of the marketing team at Hasbro. Nope. Never. So, how much are these bad boys going to set you back? Transformers Kre-O sets range in price from $7.99 (for the classic animated version of Bumblebee) to $59.99 (for Optimus Prime and Sentinel Prime). What do you think, Geek faithful? Will you be making room in your collectibles budget for these, or have you got your eyes on something else?More at Hasbro and Slashgearlast_img read more
