He had a very good game,” Shaqiri told Liverpoolfc.com post-match.“It’s always good to have people who can score in the team, he scored the second one very nicely. He fully deserved to score a hat-trick and I’m happy for him. I hope he can keep going like this.“It was a top game; obviously Arsenal have their quality and you can see that with the first goal they scored.“It was a little wake-up call for us, we were straight on after we conceded and scored for 1-1 – that was the big point for us to change the game and to win in the end.” last_img read more

first_imgRochdale teen Luke Matheson staying grounded after Man Utd goalby Paul Vegasa month agoSend to a friendShare the loveRochdale teen Luke Matheson is staying grounded after scoring in their Carabao Cup shootout defeat at Manchester United.Matheson, 16, claimed his first career goal at Old Trafford to equalise and force United into a penalty shootout with League One Rochdale in the teams’ League Cup third round tie.”I don’t think you actually can in words,” he said. “But it’s a special, special night for me, the players, the coaching staff, the fans. I don’t think I can sum it up in words, the feeling, the celebration in the dressing room after was surreal. Something I’ve never experienced before and I don’t think I’ll ever experience again.”I’m going in tomorrow (to school) to make up for it when we’ve got a day off. Got a psychology exam, so can’t wait for that!”It’s gonna be nice, everyone coming up to me [at school] and saying, ‘ah, you scored against United’. Most of my best mates are United fans, I’ve not turned my phone on yet, I’m kind of dreading it! I don’t know what tomorrow will be like, I think I’m going go in a little bit later so I can get some rest.”My education is something I’m very fond of I and I love it. And Rochdale and the school have been so supportive of me with all that, so I love learning.”It’s what I want to do, because football’s not a guarantee, you never know what could happen. You could be the best player in the world but anything’s possible and it’s best to have that back up plan just in case.” About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your saylast_img read more

Paul has two years left on his contract so time is on our side in terms of discussions on a new deal.”The club made it clear in the summer that we want Paul at United and that remains the case.” TagsTransfersAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your saylast_img read more

first_imgAbout the authorCarlos VolcanoShare the loveHave your say Roma boss Fonseca: I deserved to be sent off, but…by Carlos Volcano17 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveRoma boss Paulo Fonseca says he deserved to be sent off in their 1-1 draw with Cagliari. However, he insists Nikola Kalinic’s late goal should have stood.Fonseca said, “I didn’t like the referee’s attitude throughout the game. I could speak about the non-existent foul given against Diawara, or the incident for Cagliari’s penalty, and then the goal at the end by Kalinic.“I accept his decision to send me off, I deserved that. But on the goal it seems strange to me that the referee would tell the Cagliari players there wasn’t a foul. I don’t know why he changed his mind.“The guys played well, they created a lot of chances and I think we deserved more than a draw.“What was lacking today was that second goal. We missed a few good openings, it’s hard to say we shouldn’t have done better with them.” last_img read more

Sidwell, speaking with JOE.co.uk, revealed: “I can see what Roy Keane is saying.”I remember being at Arsenal when I was in the youth system. I was at Highbury with my match day programme and he told me to f*** off because he was going out to war against Arsenal.”It was a tight tunnel and I was just like ‘okay’, but now looking back on it I know what it means to him. They were going down there and they’re arch rivals.” About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your saylast_img read more
