2010 Be Active WA State Championships

first_img40 teams will contest the three day event across seven divisions – Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Mixed Open, Women’s 27’s, Men’s 30’s, Women’s 35’s and Men’s 40’s.Included in the line up is a team from East Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, who will travel over 4,000 kilometres to attend the event. Teams from across Western Australia that will also travel a long way to compete at the event include Albany, Geraldton, Goldfields and Bunbury. The Southern Stars will be one of the teams to watch in the Men’s Open division, with current Australian Men’s Open squad member Stuart Brierty as well as Alliance squad members Mitchell Brierty, Craig Boston and Andrew Knox in the line up. Fremantle will be another team to watch out for in the Men’s Open division, with Alliance squad members Blane Edwards and Nathan Smith in the side, while Tompkins Park boasts Duncan Brown and Trevor Twose, both also Alliance squad members. Another team to watch out for in the Men’s Open division is the Perth Brothers, who won the recent 2010 Super League Series final.In the Women’s Open division, Australian Mixed Open squad member, Zoe Dacey-Aitken, will lead the Northern Districts side. Coming off the back of last year’s State Championships win and the recent 2010 Super League Series victory, the Southern Stars will be another team to watch out for, who have Alliance squad member, Sharon Wong, in the side. Tompkins Park will be well served by their up-and-coming players, Jenaya Quan and Trilleen Pomare, who are both Alliance squad members. Friday and Saturday will see round games contested, before finals are played on Sunday.
