But it looks like he’s going to stay with the Fighting Irish for a few more weeks.NBC Sports is reporting that Wimbush will be transferring after the team’s postseason – meaning he’ll be available for the College Football Playoff.Wimbush, who started for Notre Dame all last season and started three games this year, lost his job to Ian Book earlier this year.Wimbush sticking around for the Playoff could be a big deal if something happens to Book.“Thus far, neither the player nor the football program has addressed Wimbush’s status moving forward, including whether he’ll be available for Notre Dame’s CFP semifinal matchup with Clemson.  A source close to Wimbush has told CFT, though, that the quarterback will remain with the Fighting Irish through the team’s postseason run.”Notre Dame opens the Playoff with Clemson. If the Fighting Irish win, they’ll get the winner of Alabama vs. Oklahoma in the national title game.Wimbush, after transferring, should have one year of eligibility remaining. He’ll have a solid market for his services.The Notre Dame signal-caller could be part of an all-time quarterback transfer class. Georgia quarterback Justin Fields is leaving the Bulldogs, and it’s possible that Jalen Hurts leaves Alabama.last_img
